Brida – The Choice of Missing out other Choices

Brida – The Choice of Missing out other Choices, sounds silly, right. But trust me this is the wisdom of life I never learnt till I read this book. I recently read this book BRIDA a novel written by once again my favorite Brazilian author Paulo Coelho.

You know what if I would be given with an offer To Date someone at present on the earth, do you know who would it be? Of course it is this Virgoan Author Paulo Coelho. I mean I am simply slayed by his straight yet poetic narratives of the characters in his stories. How could he delve into such a deeper layer of human psychic, I often wonder, as if he has X-Ray eyes.

The story of BRIDA revolves around the tales of a young Irish girl who embarks on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening with the themes of love, soulmate, destiny, and the search for meaning in life.

It has all the ingredients of Paulo’s Style of Cooking of a story. Like mysticism, magic, nature, philosophy, and storytelling.  And he blends them magically in such a way that the entire narrative becomes lively. That’s what special about this Brazilian author.

Well, I am not going to write a review of this book as I believe Paulo Coelho books don’t need it at all. But what unique prospective I learnt from this book is “About Choices that we miss out.

Let me put a direct quote from this book which is my best takeaway out of it.

“Choosing a path meant having to miss out on others”.

How true it is. I mean though we all know this truth but trust me I had never reflected upon it relating to my life. It reminded me a scene of the Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Bollywood Movie He jawani, He Deewani where Deepika says, “Zindagi mein kuch na kuch toh miss hota hi hai, Kabir”.

The Story of BRIDA made me reflect upon the inevitability of missing out on certain experiences, opportunities, or people as we navigate through life. Making choices often means losing other options. It’s a fundamental aspect of decision-making. That means it’s not just only about the strength of the option that we choose but it’s also about the courage to let go of all other options.

Each path we choose comes with its own set of opportunities and limitations, and sometimes we must let go of certain possibilities in order to pursue others. It’s about prioritizing what matters most to us at any given moment and accepting that we can’t have it all. This can be a challenging aspect of life, but it’s also what makes our choices meaningful and allows us to focus our efforts on what we value most.

Brida – The Choice of Missing out other Choices, the Book was a reminder for me that life is full of choices, and with each choice comes the acceptance of missing out on other possibilities.

In life, something or the other will be missed and that is an absolute answer to all our existential questions in life.

The Alchemist – A Journey of Choices

The Alchemist – A Journey of Choices

The Alchemist – A Journey of Choices is one of my most favorite books that I have read so far. A highly acclaimed novel written by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho the Alchemist is a timeless masterpiece filled with themes of destiny, personal legend, and the journey of self-discovery. This book was gifted to me by my brother way back in 2008.

This book had answered many of my never asked questions. I don’t know how many times I had read this book but every time I would get some more wisdom out of it. However, one thing that this book had taught me that time was how choices can conquer the challenges.

The book revolves around the story of a young shepherd boy Santiago, his journey of life who dreams of discovering the true treasure, his destiny or the purpose of life.  Santiago’s journey takes him from his homeland in Spain to the deserts of Egypt, where he encounters various characters and experiences that shape his understanding of life and the universe.

The book sail through a profound philosophical and spiritual theme which is one of the most compelling aspects of it. Coelho weaves the themes of destiny, fate, and the interconnectedness of all things throughout the narrative, inducing readers to reflect on their own life journeys and the pursuit of their dreams.

I read this book when I was through one of the most difficult phases of my life. I was stuck in ambitions, dreams, realities, family & motherhood. It was not easy to figure out what to choose and what not to. Then this book came to my rescue. It helped me to CHOOSE to follow my heart.

Through the journey of the protagonist of this book I learnt that the most important thing in life is “OUR CHOICES” or “WHAT WE CHOOSE”, that shapes our destiny.

It’s often said that destiny is pre-scripted. I agree but it comes up with choices. For example, the shepherd boy was having a normal life. He had a dream to travel & discover the treasure that he had heard that lying below the pyramids of Egypt. It was not easy to CHOOSE to embark on such a long journey especially when it would cost him everything what he had. He had to sell all his ship to gather enough money to start a journey.  That to not knowing how much rewarding it would be. And then his life transforms although not smoothly but overcoming challenges one after other.

So basically we all humans have our own life journeys. With every step, every moment in life we are provided with a privilege to choose.  And then there are chance, sudden events and occurrences derailing us. Then again, we are here to choose, whether to stay derailed or not, choose to start again or not.

This book taught me another very important thing, that is TRUST. We need to trust our choices, trust the circumstances that’s making us choose, in fact TRUST on the Divine plan.

As it is said, Destiny is half about what happens to us and half about what we choose to do with what happens to us.

The Chance and The Choices

The Chance and The Choices

The Chance and The Choices are two intertwined concepts that influence our lives in a very profound way. Chance are often unpredictable and random events that occur, beyond our control. They happen without any discernible human intent. They bring big or small changes – most of the time sudden/unexpected changes – uncertainties, possibilities, opportunities, or challenges. Most often we call it as destiny – fate or fortune – because they seem to be inevitable and preordained.

On the other hand, choices are the decisions – conscious or unconscious, well evaluated, or impulsive – we make in response to the opportunities and challenges posed by chance.

The relationship between chance and choices is dynamic. Chance presents us with a horde of possibilities, some favorable and some challenging, while choices are our decisions to determine how we navigate through them and respond to these possibilities.

If the chance is the destiny that provides us with a life path to trail, then the choices we make in life are like threads weaving the fabric of our existence.

To put it in a simple way that I believe is…

Life may offer me with a mountain to cross in my way, but it’s my decision or choice, if I will be trekking it, or build a tunnel through it or hill roads over it. Or simply I will be changing the road itself & take up a different route.

Dear friends,

Thanks for visiting my blog.  I hope you had a beautiful read so far.

Let me tell you, I always wait for the month of April every year as that’s the only time I write for my blog that to because of the Blogchatter A to Z challenge. It’s almost a ritual for me now.  I am thankful to Blogchatter community to organize this challenge every year. This is the only reason I write. I love to take this challenge, always.

This year the Theme of my writing would be “THE CHANCE AND THE CHOICES”. Basically all my articles will be revolving around Books, Movies, & Stories that I read and watched so far that helped me with the insights to understand life and the role of chance, destiny & choices in it.

I believe, broadly life is a cocktail of Chance and Choices. Choices play a shaping us and our destiny.

I believe the quote that says…

A child once asked God: if everything is already written in the destiny, then why should I wish? God smiled and said: May be on some pages I have written “As You Wish”.

Ultimately, the interplay between chance and choices highlights the intricacy of the human experience. While we cannot control everything that happens to us, we can empower ourselves by making informed decisions that align with our values and aspirations, navigating the twists and turns of life with resilience and purpose.

Stay tuned to read some beautiful articles revolving around this theme of life.
