KINGFISHER – THE GOOD LUCK OMEN – has always been a bird that fascinated me. The sparrow sized; brilliant bright blue feathered bird has always been a good omen for me since my childhood. A small incident in my babyhood days made me believe that sighting a kingfisher often brings good luck & fortune.

That day, my friend & I were late to school. And the first period was English. The English teacher was quite strict. He would kneel you down outside the class even if you are late for a second let alone minutes.

While on our way my friend spotted a kingfisher sitting on the electric wires. Excited, she said that nothing to worry about as nothing would happen to us. I looked at her with a question mark writ on my face.

She said, seeing a Bhadabhadalia (Odia name of the kingfisher bird) is a sign of good luck.

We reached school, almost panting, & our English teacher was on leave that day. Hurrahhhh!!

The whole day went well.

Since then, sighting a kingfisher is a positive sign for me. I love its bright blue colors. However, I always felt that this bird has a sense of aloofness. With time I observed that this bird has a spiritual significance too. In many cultures they are regarded as messenger of insights

As the theme of my writing is eco-spirituality, so in my universe nothing is an accident. Everything is a miracle. Everything has a meaning.

If you happen to sight a kingfisher bird, then listen to it. It might want to communicate something…

• Good luck and fortune are ahead.
• If you sight the bird in a time when you feel lost, it might be saying to you that it is time to withdraw yourself from worldly affairs & reflect on the self. Meditate!
• Kingfisher bird is also connected to Planet Jupiter. It symbolizes abundance, prosperity & prosperity.
• When it appears before you, it might want to tell you to do deeper level study of the situations. It has an impeccable vision, and it can see by zooming into an object several times. So, its message is do not miss out the minute details, which may appear to be insignificant.
• It has an ability to judge the depth of water very precisely. In a situation or a relationship or a project work at workplace, wherever you are stuck, if a kingfisher appears before you, then get the message that “it’s time to dive deep” before taking any step.
• I almost sight a kingfisher when travel is in the card. Or if there is a celebration coming up ahead.
• It symbolizes that meaningful pause one should take before expansion, movement, or an important decision.

The kingfisher has a strong sense of perception & judgement. Its tiny size never stops it from exploring large water bodies & hunting for exotic marine creatures. Its size never limits it. It is a bird of courage & fearlessness. That is what they want to communicate when they cross our path. We do not need to be strong or sturdy to be courageous & explore the bigger possibilities in life. We just need to believe on our own unique abilities & triumph over the fear that often limits us.

Next time, whenever you spot a kingfisher, pause for a moment, listen to it. It must be having some insight which is needed at that point of your life. This is how the Universe tries to help us in our life situations. And I call it eco-spirituality.

The HORSE – THE POWER OF MOMENTUM

The HORSE – THE POWER OF MOMENTUM – has always been truly a faithful partner of mankind since the dawn of civilization. With their majestic & royal demeanor, equines have always captivated the human mind.  But, aside from their magnificent look, horses have always been part of the spiritual narrative of almost all culture.

We can always find the mention of equines almost all sacred text & scriptures. As I do a lot of animal spirit oracles along with tarot, this seemingly masculine animal always helped me with it’s insight in my readings.

When they appear before us no matter in our physical world, online, tv or through any picture, they want to tell us something.

If you sight a horse, listen to it, it might want to communicate. The below are common insights they bring as per the situation we are that particular period of life.

• Sudden momentum – if things are stuck somewhere, then there would be sudden momentum in it.
• Horses are almost synonymous with Victory. So, the sight of a horse often means success, victory & recognition.
• Horses often bring the message about good news on promotion, elevation, or sudden financial gain.
• Horse is always a committed companion of human. It often brings the power of getting over evil & immorality.
• Their appearance often means that that the wind is in your favor. Nothing to worry about.
• In a relationship, they often mean passion & romantic love.
• If the horse captures your attention, then travel could be in the card.
• They are lean & fit, so their appearance may mean that you need to work out & get yourself fit.
• Equines can also be excellent jumpers; they know how to navigate each obstacle that comes their way. When a horse captures your sight, it often asks us to face the challenges in our life courageously. and make us aware that we have the power to overcome difficulties.
• Being the symbol of power, freedom & strength, they often come to inspire us about our inner strength.
• At times, the horse trots saying, let go the things that are weighing you down & take control of your life.
• They are the messenger from divine realm. Their appearance often means we are protected with angelic powers.
• There is a saying that if wishes are horses, then beggars would ride. So, horse spirit often asks to “take action” rather than just making plans.

Equines are always spiritual animals. They are sensitive & wise. They often take the responsibility of protecting their human companion. They are tethered. So having power without channeling it for a purpose is often useless. It’s just like a wild horse. Therefore, when a horse crosses our path, often tries to communicate to us that acknowledge your personal power & channel your energy for your highest good.

Grasshopper – Symbol of Fertility & Faith

Grasshopper – Symbol of Fertility & Faith – is believed that they have been present on the earth even before the dinosaur existed. A short horned, green colored tiny creature had always fascinated me since my childhood because of its hopping attributes. It never walks, nor crawls but jumps which I would always feel like it flies.

Grasshopper, such a small insect nobody pays really much attention to it, but it signifies some great aspects in the spiritual world.

As the name suggests “Grass means greenery synonymous to fertility” & “hopper means the power to jump the distance.”

A grasshopper by its name could hop a great distance. It can jump as much 20 times as its weight. That is the spiritual message a grasshopper always symbolizes that one can really take a great leap no matter how small one may appear, with the magic of faith in own potential & on the Divine.

And since its presence is often found in fertile atmosphere, so they often symbolize fertility as well.

When a grasshopper crosses your way or draws your attention, then never ignore it. Instead try to decipher the secrets behind it’s appearance.

Below could be the insights it might be trying to communicate.

• There could be a sudden change, windfall of money or sudden luck.
• May be an opportunity is coming your way. Do not ignore it.
• It could be an affirmation that it is the right time to take that small step.
• In Chinese Culture grasshopper are often pet especially when someone is pregnant. It is believed that their presence smoothens the challenges faced by the expecting mother. Also, the baby’s arrival on the earth would be smooth. So, they often represent good health & fertility.
• Often, we encounter a grasshopper when we are supposed to go through a sudden uncomfortable change or transformation. We need to be prepared for it as things are going to be upside down.
• Sight of a grasshopper doe also mean good luck & fortune. It also confirms that The Universe has your Back.
• It also alerts to stay aligned with our intuitions & instincts. It could be telling you that there could be sinister plot is being created behind you. You remember how locust can destroy a paddy field.
• A grasshopper when crosses your path often tries to tell you that dream big, have faith on your potential & take that BIG STEP

In the spiritual journey that a person takes it is always important to stay sure and safe of the choices that you make. But life is something that is so unpredictable, that fate throws us situations where one is not sure what to do or what to think. This uncertainty is such a displeasure that it can have some dire consequences on the spirit of a person.

So, taking a page out of the grasshopper’s book, it is important to have a resolve to take a leap of faith in such times. Just keep yourself calm and take the decision that you think will be the best solution. The faith that it will eventually workout in the end should always be alive in you for this faith dying is equivalent to sadness that is on another level.

A grasshopper is something that is insignificant but significant. It is unimportant for a major point of time but important for this inevitably particular time in life.

FLAMINGO – The Symbol of Romantic Love & Soulmate

Flamingos – The bright pink-colored winged creatures with their majestic demeanor – have always fascinated me. It is undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous birds on the earth. They exhibit exquisite beauty, vibrancy, balance & effortless grace.

Flamingos have been a part of across many culture & religions as spiritual messenger. However, when it comes to my observation, I always see them as the symbol of romance, love & soulmate energy. They are the divine messengers bringing in the message about the subtle side of all of us.

Whenever flamingos cross your path with their appearance, listen to them. Most of the time we may see them when we need to focus on our relationships.

The Spiritual Messages when flamingos appear before us –

• We need balance mostly emotional balance. Flamingos are known for their effortless balance; they can stand on one leg for hours in water. They try to say that no matter how much water or how speed is the current, it’s our inner ability that helps us stand firm on it. Water as an element represents emotions.
• Mindfulness is often what they want to say when we seek balance in life. Prayers, meditation, sleeping well, going for a morning walk…etc may help us being in a state of being amidst the inevitable winds & currents of life
• They also mean a time for celebration. An omen for “something good out there”
• They literally mean SPARK. Flamingo in Spanish & Portuguese means “Flame – Colored” The association of the Flame in their name itself means The Spark. It could be inner Spark or the spot light on you.
• Also they remind us that we all have that hidden glow in us. Flamingos are born Gray but with time they develop the spectacular vibrancy in their body color. That’s what the message they bring in. Turn inside, feed the soul with those things that makes it happy. The glow will be out & illuminate the world around us.
• Often appearance of flamingos means there is romantic love in the card. May be a soulmate is coming your way. What is a soulmate, I will write in another article. Incase you are waiting for a person in life, flamingos confirm that you will meet her/him soon
• If you are still not sure about the feelings of a person you met, appearance of flamingo before you say, “There is a Spark”.
• If you are already in a relationship, then flamingos ask you to spend time with your partner, go in a vacation, celebrate togetherness.
• Often in committed relationships, romance takes a back seat to life’s responsibilities & pressures. Flamingos crossing the path in real or art or through the media remind us that there is a need of our attention, love & care in that aspect of life. Love & romance are the beautiful aspects of life that brings balance in us.
• Flamingos most often brings out positive energy around us. Their sight often means good omen.
• However sometimes they mean a threat. It’s like “being beautiful is also means being vulnerable”

The vivacious hues of flamingos always appear to tell me that we must inculcate a habit of looking at the positive side of the things always. The Universe always works for our highest good. We need to have that trust in it. Flamingos standing in one leg in the tidal pool often reminds me that “even this will pass always” Stay firm, Stay aligned, both in times of ups or downs…

EAGLE – A SIGN OF GOOD LUCK & FORTUNE

Eagle has always been the sign of deep insights when it comes to spiritualism. It has always been a bird of higher perspective, rising above the issues, vision, foresight & vision. Often, they symbolize, uncomfortable changes, life changing decisions, success & victory.

As the theme of my writing is Eco-spirituality, I am penning about my observations on spiritual significance of an Eagle.

Depending on the context of when and how an eagle appears in our life, it may have a message meant for us specially at that point of life. There is a meaning, and deeper symbolic and spiritual connotation associated with the seemingly common encounters with an eagle.

The symbol & synchronistic interpretations and hidden messages when eagle appears before us –

• It’s definite the symbol of good luck & fortune. No matter which state of your life you are in, eagle brings the insight that there is going to be an exceptional positive change
• Eagles may appear in our life when we are being called upon to face the challenges, work on our self-doubts, expanding our reality, aligned our actions to the spiritual values.
• They appear to ask us rise above the problem to find a solution
• Eagle – in Hindu Mythology – is called as Garuda the vahana of Lord Vishnu. So, often its appearance affirms the blessing of the Lord on us at that particular time of life.
• Eagle is a strong sign of manifestation. Something that you have been manifesting for a while finally coming to fruition
• Sight of an Eagle flying overhead could also mean that there are uncomfortable changes ahead which will help you get over your limitations.
• Life may seem to be stuck now, there are bigger shifts ahead. The keyword is trust whatever comes your way as a larger plan is cooking up for you.
• The sight of an Eagle also means a New Beginning, at any point of your life
• Time to meditate to let go something that’s is not working any more for your higher perceptive.
• Eagle is believed to be bring fortune, promotion, financial gain, new job change or new properties
• They can also send you invitation that stay alert, stay aligned with universe. Things may take time to change. Be patient.
• A larger picture of current situation is getting prepared.

These are my couple of observations, that often resonated as per the situations. If you spot an eagle, take a pause & try to listen, what insights it’s trying to send across.

DEER – GENTLENESS IS A POWER

When we think or talk about a deer, a gentle, pure, peaceful & harmonious demeanor often gazing directly to our eyes, crosses our mind. Isn’t it? Or may be sometimes they exhibit speed & agility too. Even though they are not found essentially in & around us but still they are quite a familiar animal to us.

Deer inhabits in almost every part of globe. They are strikingly good-looking animals with compact body, short tails & long slander ears & majestic antelopes.

Deer is one of the most vulnerable animals in its non-human habitat. However, it is a magnificent being, having an amalgamation of exquisiteness, subtleness, and power. Even with that vulnerability that reflects on its exterior, it has survived against even the most formidable predators in the jungle.

It has an innate ability to sense danger and escape swiftly in order to protect itself. It has sharp reflexes & a gifted bounciness which made it a very subtle balance between predator & pray in the forest.

No matter wherever they catch your attention, it could be in a picture, on a tv adv, or on online platforms, whichever situations you are in, they come up with insights.

• It says that trust your intuitions
• If you are in the middle of a conflict or a hot discussion, if you sight a deer that time, then it asks you to bring gentleness to the situations.
• The message could be also to work out, be agile, & fit. Especially if you are ignoring your fitness regime.
• It might be saying you to adopt a good lifestyle. Stay away from laziness
• As they sense danger very effectively, their message is often “Stay alert”
• They shed their antelopes when that serves no purpose. So, we should learn to let go things that does not work anymore for our highest good.
• They also bring in a message to be prepared for upcoming fast changes
• They live in community. So their message is stay connected to your team, family or society.
• Deer is one of the most successful species it terms of its survivability. Irrespective of the threats they face for their existence, they still have shown the extra-ordinary capacity to survive as a species. So, their appearance at times before us often carries an insight that “No challenge is bigger than our ability to face them.”
• Being a creature of vision & clarity, it often asks us to stay aligned with our emotions of empathy & kindness. That may help us to sail through the challenges we face, smoothly.
• Often gentleness overrules the power of harshness. And the deer often symbolizes that.
• It is a symbol of positive omen of windfall & blessings too.
• It symbolizes positive changes are in card

As the theme of my challenge is eco-spirituality, I reiterate that this is how we perceive the things. I am talking of an alternate universe where spirituality is the essence. We are born with power & grace. At times we feel lost as we drift away from our core because of the challenges we face during our human experiences.

That is when the Universe asks to connect with our source. And it sends messages through different livings beings for that purpose. We don’t need any one to guide us if we stay aligned to Universe at every situation of our life, at least what I believe. And the Deer often says the same.

DEER – GENTLENESS IS A POWER

New adventures await you as the way is now clear. You are being gently nudged through this door – Deer.

CROW – YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

Crows, as we all have grown up with, are known to be the messenger of day break. They are the household name almost every part of the globe. They are quite the most familiar birds. How many of us have not wakened up to the caws of a crow? We did not need an alarm clock to wake up in the morning. Crows did the job very efficiently those days. Isn’t it?

They look ordinary unlike other majestic  creatures but  as I grew up, I learnt how extra-ordinary aspects this seemingly ordinary bird possesses. And when I started working on myself after so many twists & turns in life, to understand the patterns, the crow is one bird that gave me so much insights through the process. I am still a learner, still in the process though.

Coming to the spiritual symbolism or insights of the Crow: –

Crows demolish the insult that calling someone a “bird brain” which means silly or stupid. In fact, crows are considered among the most intelligent animals on the planet.

We find them almost every day. If it catches your attention, I would insist, then pause & reflect, what does it want to tell you. It cannot be without any connection to you.

• As crows are known to sense the morning, so they bring the insights of hope, new beginning, change that is inevitable.
• You spread some rice on the terrace to feed the crow, and it will never eat them alone. It will call the crows saying, food is available. So basically, crows are creatures of community & team work. That is what they mean to say, if in your situations you are drifting away from your team & doing things all alone
• They often bring the message of guests, news, letter coming to your home. We were so much accustomed to the fact that if crow caws, a letter must be on its way.
• They also caw or appear before you if they sense any kind of eerie or danger around you. My mother often says crows are also considered as the messenger of spirits in the other world. It is believed that our ancestors always want to save us from any danger. Crows often carry that message.
• You become little more observant,  you can also sense if the crow caws happily or otherwise.
• If you are though a sudden upheaval in your life & a crow crosses your path, it could be a sign that you have an innate ability handle your situations.
• In case you feel other people’s dramas ruffling your feathers, a crow coming in your path says don’t let them do so.
• All of us are grown up with the Aesop’s fable, “The crow & the water in the pitcher.” If you are stuck in life, especially in your work place, and the crow appears before you, it could be asking you to think out-of-box. In fact, it is an affirmation that there is a brilliant solution exists.
• Crows, as they are carrion-eaters, present at the time of death. Probably that makes them scary at times. But those times also it’s an affirmation that the departed soul is welcomed in the spirit realm. It just how we perceive it.
• Often crows are fed at the time of death rituals. They are often associated with the people who have left us & gone to the other world. So, in our tradition feeding crows is often considered as feeding ancestor.
• Crows not only are highly intelligent creatures but also have deep psychic ability. They often remind you either use your intelligence or trust your intuition.
• Sometimes they also ask you to think on your feet, make some quick decisions.
• Most importantly they assert by their appearance before you, you are not alone. The Divine is co-creating with you. You are protected. That’s why you are asked to be adaptable, instead of denial, accept change & truth. Magic happens, stay aligned with the Universe.

Butterfly – The Magic of Transformation

Butterfly – this fluttering flight often with the bright colored wings & a conspicuous creature existed since time immemorial. They still catch the imagination of human mind.

In its metamorphosis from the common, colorless ugly caterpillar to the exquisite winged creature of delicate beauty, the butterfly has become a metaphor for transformation and hope; across cultures. It has become a symbol for rebirth and resurrection, for the triumph of the spirit and the soul over the physical prison, the material world.

There have been so many things written about butterfly and their spiritual significance. I always believed that our ugly moments are often like that of caterpillars which will transform themselves to beautiful butterflies. Bad times of our life often comes with uncomfortable changes. But they help us transform ourselves & evolve as a beautiful empowered self.

As I always feel, nothing happens without a reason. So, if butterflies catching your attention, flutters around you or lands on you it must be carrying a message from divine. When butterfly appears in your life below are some messages as per my observation

• It is time for celebration for something. Something good is about to happen.
• Probably you are stuck in your comfort zone. You need to get out of it. Just like the caterpillar is cocooned in its protective shell, you are also trapped in your comfort zone. Changes – uncomfortable ones – are need the of time. May be some daily habits that you resist change or you are not willing to learn something new that is needed for your growth, the butterfly flutters the message that CHANGE is inevitable. Either you do it willingly or things will happen by themselves.
• Often these beautiful colorful winged creatures affirms that you are surrounded by angelic energy. You are protected. If you have any apprehensions, anxiety, or worries, be rest assured that The Divine is with you. Things will fine.
• Butterfly also signifies that time is short, it flies. So, we should not procrastinate. If you have a long-standing plan that got postponed so many times, that phone call to a dear one or to start something new, NOW IS THE TIME FOR IT. Do not put off things.
• Since butterflies are sensitive creatures too, so if you notice them at a time when you are handling a situation or people, they urge you to handle the things delicately. It is in your hand; you can make it or break it.
• Having butterflies fluttering around also means that travel is on card. May be a short trip.
• It also means that it’s time for meditation, look inward.

I believe, as spiritual beings we are having a human experience here on Earth. We are here to learn and evolve. And like it or not, spiritual growth and personal transformation often require that we get out of comfort zones, work on our strengths, stay aligned with universe. There is a beautiful garden full of colorful flowers prepared for us. However, we cannot enter it as caterpillars. We must go through the process of metamorphosis to experience the magic of transformation become butterflies to be a part of that garden.

A butterfly symbolizes, freedom, transformation, new beginning, hope, angelic energy around, rebirth & stay aligned with universe. If they are catching your attention, take a pause, try to get the insights that are coming to you.

Ant – The Spiritual Messenger of Power Within
Ants appear
From no where
When you feel lost & out of track
To tell you the story how The Divine works
And to help you look within
And find out that inner spark
And make you understand
It is time to collaborate & team work…
If you feel low & weighed down
And over powered by situations, people & surroundings
It is time to look inward
And to switch on your instincts
And unleash the power within your core & heart

Ants I believe are omnipresence creatures, live in every corner of the earth. Biologically they are eusocial insects having a significant role to play in environment.

However I am not going to talk here how they help or contribute to our environment. As I am going to talk about the eco-spirituality, ants carry great spiritual messages.

Have you ever wondered how these tiny creatures suddenly appear from nowhere, making a trail to the kitchen platform or food sources at your houses. My mother often would say that it indicates upcoming rain. And trust me, she would never dry the pickle on the terrace or would never allow washing heavy clothes like bedcovers n all for few days. And every time she would be right. In Orissa, rain does rain in only monsoon, it can rain at any time of the year as it’s a cyclone prone state.

Appearance of ants has different meaning at different situations. Even if they appear, every time, they might not catch your attention. If they are catching your attention, you register their sight, then there must be a message they are carrying for you. Below are couple of them as per my observation

• A new positive change is coming up. It is not a life changing event but it’s break between a monotonous routine.
• Abundance is out there
• Sometimes, probably you are disconnected from your source. Ants appearing before you may be asking you to stay connected to your community, routes.
• You need to spend time with family if you are feeling worn off. That will re-charge you.
• If you feel powerless or helpless at any life situations, then if ants are drawing your attention, then they want to tell you that you are more powerful that you even think off. An ant can carry over 20 times their own weight. So power is within us. All we need to do is understanding this & unleashing that power.
• Ants often also come up with a warning too. An impending scarcity or an unwanted event might be on the card. Keep your instincts alert so that you can sense it & be prepared for it.
• Ants also carry the insight that team work, hard work, preparedness & diligence is need of a situation. “One bee cannot build a hive: one ant cannot build a colony”
• There are situations where you feel fear, may be before a mighty situation or person. Ants remind you that change your strategy, instead of playing a victim, start being assertive. Attack is the best defence. “It is the ant, not the lion, which the elephant fears – Matshona Dhliwayo.”  Remember the dialogue by Ajay Devgan in the movie Singham, “ek chinti chahe to haathi se tandav bhi kara sakti hai” There is a power in being small too. 😊
• Most importantly ants remind us that we should celebrate our partnership with the Divine.

There are other insights too. Ants often come up as a trailblazer & guide in life. In our belief system often it is said that leaving a bit of sugar at anthills often consider as a charity that attracts good luck. However, I feel its actual meaning is to do some small charity or helpful work at your capacity. Like feed the hungry people, help the under privileged. That will attract prosperity & good luck.

The above are entirely my own observations. When I say ants drawing your attention, it could be anywhere, may be online, movies, tv…etc & just not in & around your houses.

Next time if ants catch your attention, be mindful for a while & observe what thoughts comes to your mind out of the above. That is your message & let me know if it resonated with you.
